Pack Virtual
Virtual machine security and/or Seven Transformation Pack?
I love the idea of the Seven Transformation Pack by Windows X Live, but our family has only one computer, a 1.4 GHz Dual Core laptop with 2 GB of RAM and over 40 GB of free hard drive space and even a 64 MB graphics card. My father, who manages the software on the PC, thinks the pack might be infected with a virus and doesn't seen to trust our anti-virus enough to risk it. I suggested a virtual machine, but he thinks that the virus could get out of the virtual computer and evade both the virtual and real computer's antivirus (which would be different brands with the virtual one having even more anti-virus). Assure me that the pack isn't infected + that a virtual machine is completely secure, and back up your answer with evidence like a web page or book if possible.

=its completely virus free. I assure you that, i've used it for a long time but then i removed it because it slows down the computer (i have only 512 mb ram on my laptop that's why, other wise on your 2GB ram it'll run very fast and smooth.)

Harry Potter magic vs future or science fictional technology?
Like what would you prefer having; faster than light travel, nanobots, light sabers, household robots, good virtual reality, jet pack, etc from science fiction or as possibly real super advanced technology vs Harry Potter magic. Like which would win in a war; future Muggles equiped with this kind of technology or present wizards in Harry Potter. Imagine Death Eaters vs the various Terminators or trained wizards against Muggles with energy weapons and powerful force fields and medical nanotechnology. The aliens from Independence Day attacking Hogwarts or Voldemort vs Predator. So yeah this just occurred to me after reading the seventh book.
Interesting question. As an author of fantasy/science fiction, I've actually married the two (i.e. explained what we would consider to be "fantasy" or "magic" through science), which I think enhances them both.
I think the better qualifier to your questions is not whether there's a specific technology (e.g. Death Star), but rather HOW FAR in the future are we allowed to go?
The marvelous thing about technology is that it is virtually unlimited in its potential. We have no idea what our technology will look like in 100 or 200 years. We imagine star ships and photon torpedoes and nanobots and light sabers, but of course that's not actually how technology will evolve. Some of it, maybe, but there's also a whole set of technology waiting to be invented that we haven't even *thought* of yet.
So if you're not going to put a cap on how far in the future our technology weapons can go, then I absolutely vote for technology. Death Star, smeath star. Watch out, Harry Potter - wait until you see my... Nuberdangstralith. It will *totally* blow you away. No, really. Literally.
Because, you know what? To our primitive 21st Century minds, the marvelous and dreadful things that we will have dreamed up by the 24th or 25th Century may even seem... magical.
