How do I determine the Audio Sample rate in Final Cut Pro?
I have a Mini DV JVC cheap digital camcorder that I want to edit using Final Cut Pro. When I try to capture footage I get the error on completion: The audio sample rate does not match the rate on your source material, and as a result the audio is offset from the video track. I think this is because my camcorder records 12-bit sound at 32 MHz instead of 16-bit sound at 48 MHz. However, I cannot find that configuration of audio sampling within Final Cut. Does anyone know how to determine way exact sampling rate for my camcorder, and how to implement that on Final Cut Pro 6.0?
It is true that FCP 6 sequences do not have a 12 bit depth option, only a 16 and 8 bit depth. However, a change in bit resolution will not affect length or timing of an audio clip, only a change in sample rate will cause any timing problems. For your 32khz / 12 bit audio, use the 32khz sample rate with the 16 bit depth setting for the sequence you are importing your clip into. In more detailed words, Create a new sequence and right-click/ctrl-click on it in the browser and select settings. On the right-hand side of the box that appears, select the appropriate audio settings.
You may want to check the audio settings on your camera and make sure that you are not using the setting that gives you more channels of audio with reduced quality. In other words, your camera may have the option of having 16 bit / 44.1khz audio.
Also, make sure the video you insert into the sequence has the same frame-rate as the sequence settings, or else timing issues will also arise.

Car Key-Chain Digital Audio and Video Recorder
What digital camera takes the best video and audio?
I've been looking at the flip and aiptek camcorders to take some videos. Digital cameras have the size of a flip but the capacity to hold more with higher flash cards like the aiptek so I've been trying to find a digital camera that does good video and audio. I'm leaning towards the Canon PowerShot SD1000 but haven't come close to making up my mind yet. Any help would be nice, I want a camera/camcorder that can fit in my pocket so I'm ready to capture anything.
P.S. The ability to zoom in video mode is a huge plus.
I think there are some more options cheaper than this for the same quality:-
Canon A470,
Samsung S860,
Kodak C813,
Olympus FE310.
I have chosen FE310. I suggest you to look for ISO, Shutter speed, lens quality and optical(not digital) zoom for comparing cameras than comparing merely by MP. Look at following tutorial that how ISO affects photo quality.
For reviews etc. of different cameras, go to yahoo shoping->electronics->digital cameras and then search for camera guide.Hope that helped.
