Can someone explain Bella from New Moon for me?
Okay, for the record, I never read the books. I just took a group of 7th grade girls to see the movie.
Anyway, what is it about her that makes all of these boys so attracted to her? Based on the movie, lets go down the list.
Is she beautiful? Kristin Stewart is pretty.
Is she funny? Nope
Is she smart? Didn't seem like it
Is she social? Didn't seem very vocal, even when she was happy.
Is she mentally stable? She had night terrors because a guy left her...
Is there something in the books that I'm missing about her? What is her quality that is suppose to be appealing?
Well, these questions are basically answered by the book. Because, in a lot of people's opinions, she is quite funny in the book. Comical, at times. But, yes, dramatic. All teens are, no matter how mature. In the book, she is described to be ordinary, but utterly beautiful in her own way. It's hard to describe, but, again, in the book, lots of people find her attractive. Edward thinks of her as plain at first until he actually falls in love with her. Then he thinks she's beautiful. And she is more confident and vocal in the book, I promise you. She's quite smart for her age, and mature, considering lots of things that happened in the movie. If you remember the first movie, (which was horrible in comparison to the book, but I'm sure everyone worked really hard on it and I'm still thankful for that) lots of the teens were very goofy and goofed off a lot, but Bella didn't. In the movie, they never fully explained her night terrors. In the book, you can definitely see Bella and Edward's deep connection, but considering that you saw the movies first, if you read the books, I don't think you'd like them any other way. It all just depends I suppose. Anyway, when Edward left her, she was torn, because she was deeply in love with him. I could imagine having some nightmares about him leaving because (and I'm just using an example) when my boyfriend broke up with me the same thing happened, but I moved on faster. However, Edward and Bella's connection was more deeper than me and my ex's. It was different and extraordinary. It wasn't another little teen fantasy (though some people would disagree). There is a lot of stuff in the books that aren't fully grasped in the movie. I recommend you read the books, but I don't think you'd like the concept considering that you've already seen the movie. Anyway, hope I've helped. The books grasped her character a lot better, but Kristen Stewart did a pretty good job. Not many people can act out Bella properly. She's a difficult character.
Edit: I also forgot to mention that one of the big reasons why the guys were so attracted to her was because she was a new girl and Forks didn't get new people often. It was very rare for their little town.
