Reason Drum Kits What does the Cymbals Expansion kit for Rock Band do?
i bought the kit, and tried playing a song and it plays like i can either hit the cymbals for a note, or i can hit the drum pad. it doesnt force me to use the cymbals. the only reason i can see buying these is for free style mode...
I know, they don't do much in rock band 2 except for freestyle mode. But, in rock band 3, is has a pro mode for every song that will forces you to use the cymbals. The notes come up as circles and the pads come up as the regular rectangles. I do suggest returning the cymbals you have though. New and improved versions are coming when rock band 3 comes out in November. It'll come in a 3 pack. Hope this helps.

once i have damaged my ear?
yesterday i was playing electric drum kit with head phones on behind loud speakers band was playing. they had to practice without drum for some reason so i put headphones on and practiced the drum.
and after the practice was over i felt my ear was hurting.
it was kind of tearing pain in my ear drum or something.
i think i have damaged my hearing.
today i don't really feel any pain in my ear.
unless i listen to music which isn't loud at all.
and the pain starts so i don't listen music.
so i guess i have damaged my ear lil bit
but i wonder if this damage is permanat.
anyone has idea?
I have to disagree with Evied on this one.
Noise-induced hearing loss, if severe enough, can be permanent because of damage to those tiny hair cells in the cochlea; they do shear off from the basilar membrane. They don't grow back.
The cochlea is the organ that converts the mechanical aspects of hearing into electrical energy, which is then transmitted via the Auditory Nerve to the brainstem and then on to the brain.
One can also have mechanical damage to the ossicles (tiny bones)in the middle ear. This is called "conductive" hearing loss.
I suggest you see an ENT for a full assessment of your hearing.
Always wear hearing protection when exposed to noise above 75 decibels. Keep in mind that conversation is about 60dB, whereas loud music runs about 80dB. The earplugs available at drugstores will be adequate.
Tinnitus is a symptom of damage to the hair cells. It may, indeed, go away, but that doesn't mean the hearing loss will.
Reason Drum Why do drummers on stage drum behind plastic?
I saw U2 playing on top of BBC building and I know the drummer is surrounded with plastic box ( not totally..) for sound reasons but would love to hear the technical reason!
That plastic box is all that stands between the drummer and the totally exposed air in front of him/her. If you're in a particularly small environment, it may save the audience's ears. That's why they have them in a lot of churches and some recording studios.
It's like putting up a force field that kills so many decibel levels. It allows the listener to still hear what's being played clearly, but without damage. Also, certain drums and cymbals sound better if the vibrations they produce aren't allowed to travel freely and are given the opportunity to echo in a chamber of some sort first, accenting them naturally.

Do the Rock Band 2 drum controllers HAVE to be wireless?
I'm getting RB2 for christmas and I was wondering if the drums must be wireless or if you have the option of connecting it with wires. The reason I'm asking this is because I don't want to have to buy batteries every few weeks when they die.
