I just bout a Dell XPS Laptop. It does not support PCMCIA Interface. What's PCMCIA Cards?
I bought a Dell XPS M1210 Notebook. It says that it does not support PCMCIA interface. Whats PCMCIA? and what are the benefits? Did i lose out on this buy?

How do I load drivers for various devices on my laptop?
I had someone else change my hard drive. I get it back, look at my device manager, and see a bunch of things missing:
* Blue tooth device
* Modem
* Wireless Network Connection
* PCMCIA adaptors
* LPC Interface controller
* Processor-to-AGP Controller
* Processor-to-I/O Controller
* System Management BIOS Driver
* Open Manage Client Instrumentation Device Driver
These are things that showed up in my device manager with my old hard drive that now don't show up with my new hard drive. The most immediate problem is that my wireless doesn't work.
BTW, thanks the The Honourable for directing me to this with a respnse to an earlier question.....
The easiest way to do do this would be with the add/remove new hardware software. Make sure you have the drivers ready and just start the add/remove program and it should find these programs. If this does not work check on the disk that was provided by the manufactor and reinstall these items. If you do not have a disk go to there site online and downlaod the drivers.

pls can someone help am having serious problem with my compaq nx 7300,i formated it and it then reinstalled with window xp professional OS but the problem there is that i can get all the driver for it especially audio ,pci to cardbus bridge driver,display.Also i can connect printer to it,bcs it did not detect it the usb printer.
I would run a windows update from the windows update website, it should detect the hardware and install the correct version of drivers for them.

I have an EMU1616m an the user manuals are scary, does anyone know of a walkthrough for this application?
EMU1616m is a cardbus digital audio system for recording and editing music.
I thought you had a scary emu......that's interesting,a digital audio system isn't.

I have bought USB pcmcia cant get it working?
I have bought a USB pcmcia cardbus. I hav downloaded the drivers and the computer rcognises it. When I put in any USB device, nothing happens. In the maual it says that the power supply i running at 100Ma for each port. It came with a USB power cable, but I am unable to use my computers original USB port as my nephew has buggered that one up for me. I am ble to use a 5v adapter in place of the USB power. Which in the manual says that each port will run at 500Ma. What is Ma. Will my USB devices work with 500Ma power.
500mA it will be, that's MILLI AMPS; or 1/2 amp
Try connecting a USB device to the card, THEN plugging the adapter in.
If it STILL doesn't see USB devices contact seller, you MAY have a faulty device

PCMCIA Cards?
Ok, I have an older compaq presario 2190us laptop. It has (to my knowledge with windows) a Type I/II/III with support and 32-bit card bus. What type of networking pc card will work with this? Given this laptop is years old Im not sure if the newer cards will work (32 bit cardbus) it is an OZ6912 PCMCIA Cardbus controller. Right now I am using a WAP but I want to be able to use the PCMCIA (wireless)

I think today's cards should still work fine. If you want to be safe, just try one, and take it back if it doesn't work.

Will using compact flash memory in the pcmcia interface in my laptop speed up the machine? cant find new ram.?
If is use a compact flash card wil this be faster than using the hard drive for virtual memory. I have been trying to buy some ram but is way pricey as I have a old machine.
The flash memory increases the capacity of the storage, it is not help on the speed. Do the search on the local computer shop on the used RAM. You may list the spec of the RAM here people may help you to find some RAM in the market.

I want to see my TV channels in Laptop. People say tuner card or pcmcia card or pinnacle etc. Best?
I am novice with hitech. Please advise me a better device to interface between my cable from channel provider to my laptop. I just wanted some thine like CABLE-> Interface->laptop.
Cable I mean, the pin which you connect to TV to get the 100's of TV channels.
i think tuner card i de best.. but only the channels that come on yr tv come here... yr p.c is virtually turned into a tv... i also feel some websites offer channels.. if you have a brodband this is de best...
