what does a motif rack do?
ive seen this used by a few music producers and just want to know exactly what it does..
It's a rack mounted version of the Motif synthesizer. It's meant for people who have plenty of keyboards and want to expand their system with Motif sounds. It's preset voices include 896 normal voices and 65 drum kits. For user voices, it has 256 normal voices and 35 drum kits. The Yamaha web page says that this product is discontinued in the United States and may not be available at all dealer locations.

Two Midi Controllers one Motif-Rack XS?
Is there anyway to use two keyboards with one module? or do I need two modules for two keyboards?
You can hook multiple keyboards up to one module if you get a MIDI merger. Here's one that merges two MIDI inputs to one MIDI output:

A company called Anatek used to make mergers as well and you can sometimes find them on eBay very inexpensively. You could also look for a MIDI patchbay if you have a complex setup, they often include a merge feature.
