How do i fix my sluggish computer??
My computer has been acting up as of late...I built the computer myself, but having difficulty troubleshooting and fixing the situation. Recently my computer has been restarting on its own and sometimes has trouble booting up. I took a can of pressured air to my tower to blow out all the dust that's been collecting and made sure that my components are secure. After doing so, I booted my computer back up and now it's slower than before. By slower, I mean programs are taking longer to load and sometimes resizing my window takes forever. Also, my USB ports aren't working correctly. This USB thing is a big problem because half of the things I use on a daily basis are connected via USB. 4 of my USB ports are on a PCI card and another 2 are directly on the motherboard.
I have P4 2.4ghz, 1GB of ram, and had built this computer about 2 years ago.
Help me out!
Have you scanned for spy ware? That's the #1 problem I find with slow computers. Download all three of these: SpyBot, AdAware, and Windows Defender. They are all free. Scan with all three programs; no single one seems to be able to do the job.

DeelCool XFan5 PCI Slot Fan unboxing and Review
Was is it the normal temperature for a motherboard ?
- Intel Core Duo 2 2.40GHz, not overclocked
- Asus P5B Motherboard
- PCI-E Sapphire X1950 Pro Graphics Card
- Antec Server Case (pretty big, with tons of expansion slots, for hardware, fans...etc)
Average motherboard temparature : 36-42 °C (45 on hot days)
No air conditionning at home...
If these temperatures are too high, what can I do to reduce the heat ? Thank you !
Those are normal operating temps.
