Studio Live What is the best laptop with the most memory, basically i want to use it for my recording studio and live show?
basically i want to use it for my recording studio and to play shows live with it because im a one man band
Start from the Top and work your way down.
Look at a custom built laptop from Falcon Northwest. http://www.falcon-nw.com/ Sure, you might end up with a $6000 custom designed, custom painted laptop, but it will be worth every penny.
Want something a little less expensive but still custom? http://www.sagernotebook.com/default.php How about a Sager? Again, you get to decide how powerful and dependable it is.
Ok. You want something off the shelf maybe? http://laptops.toshiba.com/laptops/Qosmio/ You are looking at Toshiba Qosmio series. They start about $1500
Now, you will notice that all these are considered to be "gaming" or "desktop replacement" laptops. Why? Because the most powerful laptops ARE gaming and desktop replacement laptops. For example, if you wanted to use Virtual DJ for Video mixing, you should be using a video card with 1gb of dedicated memory. This is going to be nearly impossible to find in a laptop, unless you are looking at gaming or desktop replacement rigs. You want the fastest machine possible, to provide the lowest latency in recording... again... processor speed is found in gaming and desktop replacement laptops. You want the ability to have 12gb or Ram or 16gb of Ram... you are looking at a gaming or desktop replacement laptop.
So, if you don't want to go the Custom Built Route, and you don't want to throw away money buying an Alienware (expect to pay $2500 or more for a pre-built Alienware as powerful as the $1500 Toshiba Qosmio... and less dependable to boot) then you should be considering a Toshiba Qosmio. Otherwise, consider a Sager or Falcon Northwest.
Can 2 people live in a studio with 2 cats and make it work?
Due to constraints both financial and emotional, my boyfriend and I are looking into living together in a studio with our 2 cats. Is there any way that this can work out? If we can keep clean and out of each other's hair? We both will be working and I am in school (a lot!) so it's not like we'll constantly be in each other's space.
It depends first on how you arrange the place and second on how well you adapt to each others habits. Living with anyone takes some adjustment, and often people find out they are incompatible after they try to live together. The most important aspect to make it work is sharing in household chores. It is especially important when you live together in a small place that you are on the same page about cleanliness. Nothing (except money) causes more stress on a couple who live together than clutter. If you both maintain the same cleaning habits, then you can make it work.
Some ideas for a small place: look into getting a futon that can double as a couch and a bed. You should also consider storage space. I have lived in large apartments that did not have enough storage space, and it drove me nuts. You should invest in good shelves that have plenty of space to put things but do not take up too much room.
As for living with cats, especially in a small place, you will need to find a clever place for the litter box. You could buy a set of shelves that the litter box can sit under so that it is hidden from view. You may be able to find a piece of furniture that is built specifically to hide a litter box and still be used for other things.
I've been watching this game for a while. I never played the first one, but I've heard it's good and I do plan to. Now, about Assassins Creed 2. I wasn't totally convinced by E3's presentation of the game, but it definitely got me excited. Now, after watching the following trailer, I was convinced. I will almost certainly reserve it. (if I have enough money after buying Uncharted 2)
This trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0y7QZZL9…
The interface for the combat reminds me of Prototype (not the attacks themselves, but the manor in which the attacks are carried out.)
The platforming and level-design remind me of both inFAMOUS and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
So what do you guys think? Will you get it, or wait for reviews and such.
The Real Deal, Modern Warfare 2 looks like shit. God of War III doesn't come out until 2010, so i have time for that.
Seriously guys, why are you bringing Modern Warefare 2 into this?
Hahaha that was funny what you said in the "Additional Details"
I Agree with you on that. I dont see why everyone wants THAT game. I posted what game should I get yesterday, and everyone said Modern Warfare 2. But, I didnt even say I wanted the game. I mean I like Call of Duty: World at war...but modern warfare doesnt interest me.
My thoughts on Assassins creed 2 is almost what you said.
They remind me of Infamous and prototype, but I have played both of them games, and infamous reminds me more like Assasins creed.
Since the game never hits store shelves the day its released here any how.
What I Like to do is go to ign.com and see what kind of a rating the game got. IF it is a good rating, then I will buy it. But, if its a game I really like, I'll buy it anyway.
Uncharted 1 & 2 and Assassins Creed 1 & 2 should be in any ones games. Cause they both are in my top 10 of all PS3 games.
I like Uncharted more though, because of the Cut scenes, and the overall Story seems better to me. Uncharted 2 is amazing, especially the part were you come to a waterfall and theres a GIANT boat almost ready to fall of the edge. Thats all imma say, dont know if you played the game lol.
But yes, I will end up buying Assassins creed 2 a week or so after it comes out.

Pretty good set up and would play almost all games decently except perhaps Oblivion and Crysis. I would rate your rig an 8.5. 10 goes for an 8800 Ultra paired with an E6850.

HP media centre / center upgrade?
I have just bought the below HP media center / centre PC:

I am happy with it so far, but was wondering what basic upgrades I could do to improve performance? I what would be the best bang for my buck upgrade – eg 2gb memory upgrade, more hard drive space?
Station Studio Control How centralized is the mass media today?
Pretty self-explanatory. The latest extremely-credible source about the centralization of the mass media was from 2003 (Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky and Edward S Herman), and it showed that 9 conglomerates controlled all the MAJOR film studios, newspapers, magazines, news networks, cable networks, news channels, movie channels and radio stations; and that those that controlled the major mass media controlled a sizeable fraction of the.... 'minor' media, I guess its called, with around 20 other owners. I just want a more updated documentation of the centralization of the mass media.
I didn't mean manufacturing consent was the last one, I mean it was the last one I could find.
The funny thing is, I do watch the daily show more than anything else because honestly, they really do show more news.
Incredibly. Every network news has the same stories with the same buzz words. Just watch the Daily Show.
In a radio station:can the studios and the control room have irregular shape/angles or there r sound problems?
Control rooms can have irregular shapes. I have worked in several TV and radio control rooms that were irregularly shaped.
Studios can be irregularly shaped, also. If it is purely a soundstage, the 'good' ones will have baffling materials on the walls, floor, and ceiling and the shape won't matter, because most or all of the sound will be absorbed by the baffles and insulation materials.
I was recently in one recording studio where the sound room was very oddly shaped.
