This is the inexorable march of technology. All computer products get discontinued after a while, even if there's not much to upgrade.
New features: lower latency, higher sample rates, more outputs, balanced speaker outs, touchpads, redesigned pres... You could have found all of this info yourself if you just Googled it. It took me 5 seconds.
What recording interface/recording package and software should I get?
I play guitar and I'm very good. I've spent most my life playing and now I feel it's finally time to start recording. Since I'm new to recording, I really want something that will get me going, but is also good. I sing as well, so definitely something with at least 2 inputs. I will be running it through an Apple Macbook Pro. Does that mean I can only use a duet and apogee? With all that considered my next question is what software is recommended? Pro tools or logic or what? Maybe it's all based on opinions? If this means anything, I'm really into John Mayer-ish type stuff. All help and tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I'm a songwriter and as such I'm very serious about the quality of my recordings which I insist be broadcast quality. If that is what you want, then there is really only one choice for you. That is the NEW Avid Mbox USB computer interface which comes with Pro Tools (the industry standard recording software). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NcMXy8_x1k - http://www.guitarcenter.com/Avid-Pro-Tools-Mbox-Mini--3rd-gen--106091184-i1552697.gc
A few things you might want to know about recording to get the highest quality, you always want to connect your guitar to your effects processors and then run that output to the Mbox bypassing your guitar amplifier. For vocals, if you want the highest quality sound you should get a BOSS VE-20 vocal performer and run that directly through the Mbox connecting your microphone to the VE-20.
You will get your best recordings by recording one track at a time. Don't try to play and sing at the same time. It would be a good idea to get a bass so you can add bass to your recordings. I play guitar and bass and enough keyboard to add that sound when I need it. So, typically I start with a prerecorded drum track from Pro Tools, Toontracks, or either my Roland or Yamaha keyboard. Then I usually record a rhythm guitar track, then bass, then lead guitar, then keyboard if required, and the last thing I do is record the vocals. First the lead vocal and then I add up to as many as 4 back up harmony vocal tracks. Then you just mix and master and cut a CD or upload a wav or mp3 file and you're on your way. There is a lot of FREE Pro Tools training at You Tube and it comes with a very good started training tutorial. Good luck to you. Oh yeah, I happen to know that Megan Nicole uses Pro Tools to record with so, this is what you can sound like with an Mbox and Pro Tools. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3hTC1WMxts
which is which?
its in the whole illusion thing.
but which one is suppose to look the biggest when it happens?
Perigee,sorry.
and also....does it appear bigger because its far away???!!
"The Moon moves on an orbit which is not circular but elliptical, with the Earth at one focus. At one end of this ellipse it makes its closest approach to the Earth (356 410 km or 221 473 miles), known as perigee. At the other end it reaches its greatest separation (406 697 km or 252 722 miles), called apogee. The period between successive perigees or apogees is called the anomalistic month, equal to 27.56 days."
"The Moon's orbit around the Earth is elliptical, with a substantial eccentricity (as major Solar System bodies go) of 5.49%. In addition, the tidal effect of the Sun's gravitational field increases the eccentricity when the orbit's major axis is aligned with the Sun-Earth vector or, in other words, the Moon is full or new.
The combined effects of orbital eccentricity and the Sun's tides result in a substantial difference in the apparent size and brightness of the Moon at perigee and apogee. Extreme values for perigee and apogee distance occur when perigee or apogee passage occurs close to new or full Moon, and long-term extremes are in the months near to Earth's perihelion passage (closest approach to the Sun, when the Sun's tidal effects are strongest) in the first few days of January."
why cant we just have fun and help out the other dots on this bigger dot?
try not to kill other dots (people) unless they hurt your loved ones. check out this linkhttp://www.space.com/php/multimedia/imagedisplay/img_display.php?pic=070403_Lunar_Apogee.jpg&cap=The+Moon%27s+distance+from+Earth+varies+a+bit+during+its+orbit.+The+point+of+farthest+recession+is+called+%22apogee.%22++Although+this+varies+slightly+from+orbit+to+orbit%2C+this+time+it+is+about+406%2C329+km+or+252%2C481+miles.+The+time+of+closest+approach+is+%22perigee.%22+See+April+17+below.we are so small... why do we fight and cause hate and other sorts of negativity we are nothing! sorry the link is so long i just copied and pasted it...
I see your point. This world is too big not to share and have fun. There are so many things to do and see. We should all be able to get along. Can you imagine if this was one big party? We have a great time. I volunteer to be on the grill. Shrimp skewers anyone! LOL
