Making a Drum cover video for youtube (using a mac)?
I have a presonus firepod with mics for my acoustic drum kid and also an electric drum kit that can plug into the firepod. The firepod uses a firewire.
I am wondering how i can make a video using the isight camera on my Mac as the video recorder and the firepod to record the drums to make a drum cover to a song. I would like to have the song in clear quality, how can i do this?
I USE GARAGEBAND WITH MY MICS
What you'll need to do is get an audio recording program Sonar, Pro Tools, etc., (or if you're cheap...audacity 
, it's free!) and you will need to record your audio separately using one of these programs, while at the same time recording the video with your iSight camera interface.
So, you will be recording audio with your audio program, and video with whatever recording program you would like (such as simply iMovie) simultaneously!
Now that you have two separate files: one video, and one audio. Export the audio to an mp3 (or other supported format) and save it somewhere accessible. Then open up the movie file in iMovie. You can remove or mute all the recorded audio that may have recorded off any on board microphones if you didn't adjust the settings before recording. Then go to import audio, and import the mp3 file that you recorded with your setup.
Final step, simply sync it up!
An easy to way to do this is to simply click your drumsticks together 4 times, or something similar at the start of your recording, before you actually start what you want to record. This way you have 4 short sounds and movements you can easily sync up, and the rest of the file will be in time. You can then simply crop it out once the files are synced.

***PS*** I forgot to add, just listen to the song in headphones while you play, and then you can also import the song into iMovie as well, and have it synced up to your drum track. That way there is no low quality bleed.
