Mbox 2 Windows 7
What specifications should I look for in a desktop for recording music?
My old PC I used to record music just crashed, so now I'm in the market for a new computer. My friend builds PCs, so I'd prefer not to go with a Mac (also I don't have a lot of money). I'll probably be recording using a simple 4-8 input interface like the Mbox 2 or something along those lines. The friend that builds computers asked me what specs I was looking for, so I thought I'd pass the question along to you tech-savvy Yahoo users. This computer will be solely dedicated to recording music, so it won't be junked up with other programs. I record live music, mostly progressive rock along the lines of Damiera and This Town Needs Guns. Mostly I just want to know how important the sound card and the version of Windows (probably going with Windows 7... shudder) will be. Thanks guys.
ull need a fairly fast cpu and lots of ram- id say a minimum 3gig if u will b overdubbingor playing several tracks at once..
havent used windows 7 yet but xp is pretty solid for multimedia.
invest in silent fans as its surprising how much fan noise is picked up by mics.
silent h/drive as well, maybe a ssd but they may not be fast enough for what u need..
and a solid case with no vibrations....
