Cubase Setup

What setup would I need to do live recording on a mac with my band in a bedroom?
I have a mixer, speakers, mics etc and guitar amps, but what else would I need. It's for a new imac and I want to do more than one track at a time. If anyone could show me a diagram or something like that of how to do it that would be great, oh and I have cubase le4, bnut might get logic express, thanks.
first specify if you want to record the band all together or separate. if you want to record them all together get yourself some diaphragm condenser mics to ensure you record in stereo. the drums are a tricky part as they need to be recorded with special percussion mics and require a drum shield separating the kit from the rest of the band and it helps control the sound from overwhelming the rest of the band and the recording. once you get all the mics in place you'll need a program such as what you mentioned, cubase or even better, Logic. then have someone produce it if they know how and do all the necessary mixing.

Euphonix Artist Series 1 Cubase Setup Basic
Laptop for Music Production...?
I currently write music using Ableton Live and Cubase... I have a stand alone PC (3GB, 512ram, 80G Hard drive)... this is sufficient to run programs although CPU usage sometimes tops out... I want to use a laptop instead of this setup but need a high spec... Im considering a Mac book Pro... but I know there are other options out there... I need this new laptop to out perform my curtrewnt cpu (but get the advantage of this being portable)... I will also buy a separate sound card....
Any advice about what laptop to buy?
You should stick with a desktop for music production, they run about 3 to 4 times faster than laptops. You could get a 10,000 rpm hard drive in a laptop and it still wouldn't be fast enough to do serious music justice.

oh awesome. I've outgrown Acid with my little setup, just giving Ableton a whirl. Might have to investigate Cubase again!
