Cubase Performance

CPU vs. RAM for a music computer?

I had a fire in my place and needed to replace a laptop that had a core2 duo chip. I got a new laptop with a slightly better Ghz clock speed, but it is an AMD Turion X2. My main use is music recording -- intensive multi-track programs like Cubase that max out everything. This system can accept up to 8 GB Ram -- double my old system. Will it be able to match the other system's performance. For a music program that simultaneously uses many synths, effects, etc. -- will the RAM be a deciding factor (more so than CPU) on how good the machine is? Please let me know your thoughts and thanks. Can't test it yet, and want to make sure I got a good system for my needs. Thanks again.
Have a 64-bit Vista System

Vista 64-bit (all 64-bit) operating systems make full use of 4GB or more. The AMD Turion X2 is good enough while for music recording, most of the need for what you'll need most will be all good after getting more RAM. At least 4GB and you're good to go!

Signing music artists, the best way?

Im wondering where the best place to find musical talent would be? Wether that talent be in performance or in using cubase etc.

When I used to work as a producer, we got our demos from a variety of places.

Put out local ads for bands to submit their demos. A lot of the time small publications may do it for free. (pennysaver)

You can also advertise in larger magazines, like Rolling Stone if you can afford it.

Back when mp3.com used to be a free userbased site with insigned artists, I used to find bands through their (might still be some sites like this...maybe myspace if you dont mind filtering through the nonsense...)

You can also frequent many clubs on live nights, and you can actually work/play at the same time.
