Why is the sound quality so poor when I connect my keyboard to the laptop?
I'm using a brand new yamaha PSR E413 connected via USB to a Dell Inspiron 1545, and when I record notes onto Cubase Essential 5 the sound is not just poor quality, but buzzes really badly, sometimes with an echo.
I thought this could be to do with feedback, but I'm pretty sure the recording is via midi, not some kind of audio recording.
Is it the sound card; or maybe the cable, which is the old one that was used for the internet on my old computer; or maybe it's just the speakers, although I have tried listening using the laptop's inbuilt speakers and the ipod earphones?
Any help is much appreciated, and I apologise for my terrible use of technical language
