Cakewalk LE Distortion?

Hi, i have cubase LE and i'm using a yamaha keyboard to record with. i'm recording straight from the line out/headphones to the analogue line in on my soundcard (Emu 0404) and when i record in cakewalk the keyboard sounds really distorted and breaks up alot, the sound on the keyboard isn't up high. i'm new to pc recording so it's probably something really simple. when i use cubase the recording is fine. Any ideas?

my daughter uses this and says that the sound needs to be down. Otherwise it can make feedback noice on the recording. Hopefully that will help. Good luck with it
