Fluid Leaking from drum of tire. Brake Fuid Problem?
I have a 1990 Chevy Blazer, I bought it with a lift kit. The thing is like 3 feet off the ground to get in anyways..... The left rear tire is leaking some kind of lubricant or fluid. It is not red. It is like what motor oil looks like when it's new. Is It bearings or someting? Also I checked my fluids level and there was a sort of box with two rubber gaskets that says min. and max. they were almost empty, the box was only marked as "ZF" I did not inherir the owners manual. Thanks to anyone!!!!
it is either brake fluid or gear oil. if you smell it and it smells like a strong sulfur smell, that is gear oil, at the same time if you look at the path that the fluid has traveled to reach the ground, over painted surfaces specifically, if the paint flakes away very easily. it is more than likely brake fluid. by the description of the box under the hood, it sounds like you are describing the master cylinder, as long as it is more to the driver side of the engine bay bolted to a big metal disc (for lack of a better description). if that is very low, do not drive and look into a brake inspection. you could have a problem if you drive the truck.
